Let me ask you a question, do you ever create content for Quora?

I’m guessing the majority of answers to that question is “no”. Although I may be wrong.

Did you know that you can repurpose your blog posts onto Quora?

Whilst you can repurpose your blog posts in a host of different ways, from podcasts to social media posts, checklists to videos, and so on. Quora is often overlooked. Yet Quora is a minefield of questions waiting to be answered. It’s an ideal place to demonstrate your expertise, build a following and of course, repurpose your blog posts!

Repurposing your blog posts on Quora is a great way to put your content and your business/brand in front of the right people…people who want to learn from your expertise in order to get answers to their questions.

Recent studies have revealed that adults spend 2x as much time on Quora than LinkedIn. Plus, in 2018, Quora’s monthly active user base reached 300 million, up from 200 million reported in 2017 — that is huge. Statistics like that shouldn’t be ignored!

So, if you want to reach your audience then consider this, perhaps they are on Quora. And, maybe the power of repurposing can get you on there too!

What is Quora and how do people use it?

As a Q&A website, you’re free to ask and answer as many questions as you like on Quora. You can use it for entertainment purposes (like testing your knowledge on your favorite TV shows). Or, leverage it for business by sharing knowledge and offering practical solutions to people seeking help in your field of expertise.

Have you noticed that whenever you ask a question on Google, a related Quora post is likely to be one of the first search results to appear on your screen. Spend a few minutes on the platform and you’ll soon discover that people use it for everything from help writing an essay to relationship questions!

It’s easy to get started on Quora, here’s how:

All you have to do is create a user profile complete with your name and bio credentials. Keep in mind that whenever you answer a question or post one yourself, everyone will see your profile image, name, and bio.

Here are some top tips to keep in mind:

  • Your bio can be edited. So, you can use it to let people know a little more about yourself and your field of expertise. When you’ve completed your profile, you’re ready to start looking for industry-related topics to engage with.
  • Use keywords to locate relevant questions and remember that users can upvote and downvote people’s answers to highlight the most popular. So, unless you want your answer to sink to the bottom of the pile, you’ll want to make sure that you provide the best answer, so you get those important upvotes!
  • It’s worth taking the time to answer questions that have got a lot of upvotes. These are the discussions that get the most engagement, which means more people will see your answer. When searching for discussions to engage with, make sure that you choose questions that you can actually provide the solution to. You might not be able to solve their entire problem with a single post, but you can share some helpful information. If you think that you can help them further, direct them to check out your website, podcast, video show, blog and so on.

With over 400,000 topics to explore, you won’t have any trouble finding industry-related topics on Quora. Whether you’re in a niche industry or not, your audience is on Quora. And, they’ve got lots of questions for you!

Savvy business owners use Quora to share their expertise and build credibility as a trusted expert in their field. So, if you haven’t brought Quora into your content marketing strategy yet, now’s the time.

With 300 million monthly active users, Quora is a very popular platform, and it’s continuing to gain traction year after year.

Quora’s rapid growth is even more impressive when you compare it to Facebook’s steady decline in usage. According to Edison Research and Triton Digital’s Infinite Dial 2019 report, Facebook saw a decline from 67% to 61%. And, Twitter usage has also seen a decline from 23% to 19% in 2019.

To find out more about key findings from The Infinite Dial 2019 Report, check out episode 85 of our podcast. In episode 85 we dug deep into the report from a social media standpoint.

Unlike many of the ‘big names’ in social media, Quora’s rapid growth in monthly active users should be enough to convince you of its worth. Although it’s not a ‘purebred’ social media channel, it embodies a lot of social network qualities. And, the platform is often described as a “ unique cross between social media and research.”

Why should you repurpose your blog posts on Quora?

Instead of creating new content all the time, you can repurpose your existing blog posts on Quora.

This is a fantastic way to share your amazing content with a new audience who are active on the Q&A platform. Plus, if you include links back to your site within your answer and/or profile, you could see a wave of traffic coming directly from Quora.

One of the best ways to serve your audience is to provide solutions to their problems. But, how can you find out what challenges and questions your audience has?

Quora is the perfect way to create content in response to what your audience is asking.

Useful content (from your repurposed blog posts) = more engagement!

Quora is the perfect FREE source of community insight. With a little bit of research and a watchful eye, you can learn what content your audience needs from you.

If you’ve got an existing blog post that already answers a part or all of a question that you’ve spotted on Quora, you can easily repurpose your written content and convert it into an informative answer. Doing this allows you to share an in-depth answer to the question at hand, without taking up a lot of your time.

Contributing your expertise in the form of helpful answers that have been repurposed from an existing blog post on Quora helps to build your credibility as a trusted expert on the topic.

Engage with potential clients using Spaces

If you want to create an exclusive place online where you can curate collections and form communities around your field of expertise, Quora Spaces is perfect.

Spaces is a relatively new feature on Quora that can be used in three different ways:

1. Organize your own thoughts and written content into different sections

2. Build a smaller community of people to work together to gather relevant answers and links about a topic

3. Create a space to have shared conversations with a group of people with similar interests

Prior to the launch of Spaces, Quora had a more traditional blog posts feature on the site. Using this feature users could upload blog posts directly onto their page. Quora decided to transition from blogs to Spaces. Spaces has lower friction to contribution and allows participants to share links and short posts, etc.

At the time of writing this post, Spaces is still in beta, which means that creating new spaces isn’t available to all members just yet. However, you can contribute to relevant Spaces and share your knowledge with people by applying to become a contributor.

Simply go to the ‘ People’ tab and select ‘ Apply here.’ You’ll have to include a short explanation detailing why you want to become a contributor and await a response from a moderator.

As a contributor, you’ll be able to follow relevant Spaces, comment and engage with other members of that community.

Although it’s still in its infancy stages, it’ll be interesting to see how Spaces grows and adapts as more people use it. I’m especially excited to see new ways we can repurpose blog content onto Spaces in the future!

Answering relevant questions on Quora

Another way to repurpose your blog post on Quora is by answering relevant questions in your field of expertise.

You’ll need to consider the topics that you want to be recognized for. There are 400,000+ different topics to choose from. And, each of these topics can potentially attract thousands of interested participants.

Quora is a great place to repurpose a blog post into answers. But, remember to make sure that you choose relevant topics and answer questions in your niche. Your answer must provide REAL value.

So, if you don’t think the full-length blog post will provide the most value to the individual asking the question, don’t use all of it! You can choose key ideas/insights from your original blog post that you know will be useful and use that.

Make sure to add some personal touches to your answer so that it doesn’t read like a generic post. Addressing the individual’s concerns, showing that you genuinely care will allow them to gain trust in you and what you have to say.

Remember that when you answer a question on Quora, your content is exposed to not just the person asking the question, but to others who are also looking at that same post!

How to repurpose a Quora Q&A into a blog post

Did you know that you can reverse gears and actually repurpose a Quora Q&A into a blog post for your own website?

Quora is the perfect place to source new content ideas by looking at what questions keep being asked. Do you find yourself answering a lot of your industry questions on Quora? If so you can repurpose your in-depth Quora answers and transform these into a blog post.

If your answer got a lot of upvotes too, it gives you even more of a reason to repurpose it into a blog post that addresses the same points in more detail. Then, you can always return to Quora later and repurpose that blog post into answers to similar questions.

If there’s a frequently asked question on Quora that has received a lot of upvotes and engagement and you haven’t written a blog post about that topic yet, write one! Then, share it in the answers on Quora.

3 Top Tips!

  • Struggling to come up with ideas for a great Q&A session on Quora? Take a look at similar questions and other people’s answers from your industry for inspiration!
  • When answering people’s questions, remember to refer to your own content/website in your answers! However, don’t just post a link and nothing else, you won’t gain any leads, just a lot of downvotes which definitely won’t make you look good! Be in-depth and helpful with your answers and you’ll see a lot more engagement and positive feedback.
  • Make sure that you regularly engage with other users on Quora. Don’t let yourself get lost in the crowd! Discuss industry-relevant topics and offer real solutions to people’s questions. If you do this, you’ll gain more engagement and people will be more likely to trust you.

In Conclusion

There are many different ways to repurpose content for and from Quora. And, there’s no doubt that it’s a great platform for growing your audience, attracting high-quality traffic back to your site and boosting your authority online.

If you want to make the most out of the platform though, you need to stay active to help increase your credibility and keep the high-quality traffic coming!
